Cycle: 31km
After breakfast we left for the zoo on the bikes. It should have only
taken us 15 minutes but due to a directional error, it took us 25, but we did
get there! We had purchased our tickets on line to save 10% so didn't have to
queue and just presented the phone at the gate and they scanned the barcode and
in we went. We spent about 5 hours at the zoo and saw all the usual suspects
(elephant, rhino, lion, monkey, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, hippo (only very
briefly from a long way away), and some not so usual (greater one horned rhino,
addax (antelope), bongo, Przewalski's Horse). There was a cheetah enclosure,
but the cats were nowhere to be seen. Our mornos stop was in front of the Lemur
enclosure, but we only saw two as the rest were inside partaking in the breeding
program. Lunch (homemade sandwiches) was across the road from the lions.
We came home via the city for Gunther to purchase a new fuse (min pack
size was five, so he has some spares) and Wendy to buy some van toilet
chemicals. Both were achieved in a very short space of time and were back home
about 1:30pm. We (Greg & Wendy only) then went straight back into the city,
on the bikes, to restock the fridge and cupboards. We would have done it on the
way back from the zoo, but we didn't have our backpacks. After securing the
groceries, Wendy had a snooze whilst Greg sorted through his photos.
A slow'ish afternoon was had, with Greg cleaning bikes and re-attaching
them to the bike rack, and Wendy writing the blog and sorting through photos.
Dinner was stir fried chicken-rice. Another late night, for us anyway!
